Terms and Conditions

Terms and Conditions Agreement


BIO – Biotechnology Innovation Organization – and Biominas Brasil (“Organizers”, “we,” or “us”), producers of the BIO Latin America Conference, hereby present the Terms and Conditions agreement that defines the rules, requirements, and other terms that all registrants must agree before using the BIO Latin America Conference website and/or registering for the Conference.


Countries Not Allowed to Register for BIO Latin America

Sanctions issued by the US Department of Treasury prohibit a US-based organization (such as BIO) from conducting business with any entity/company or individual from the following countries:

  • Cuba
  • Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea)
  • Iran
  • Sudan
  • Syria
  • Ukraine

Therefore, the BIO Latin America event, which is co-hosted by BIO, cannot not allow any entity/company or individual from these countries to participate in such event.

Accordingly, we hereby reserve the right to cancel any participant’s registration from the above-mentioned countries and provide a refund of the registration fee if/when necessary.


Registration – Special Categories

The BIO Latin America Conference offers discounts for special categories, which are described below. If you consider your institution as part of one of these categories, please read all the rules before selecting the correspondent option and before continuing with your registration process.

Be aware that your registration will be analyzed and if we conclude that your institution does not fit in the selected category, a notification will be sent to your e-mail within 48 working-hours after your registration asking you to pay the remaining pricing for the correct category. The email will contain further instructions.

We reserve the right to not approve and to cancel a registration if we conclude that the institution does not fit in the selected category and/or if the registration payment is not fully received.

Brazilian OR Latin American OR International registration

To register choosing the Brazilian category, the institution/company that you will represent at the Conference must be situated at the Brazilian territory, and the address submitted in your registration form must be the Brazilian address of this institution/company.

To register choosing the Latin American category, the institution/company that you will represent at the Conference must be situated in a Latin American country (except Brazil), and the address submitted in your registration form must be the Latin American address of this institution/company.

All registrants not eligible for the Brazilian or Latin American categories must register choosing the International category.

BIO/Biominas member

To be considered a BIO/Biominas member, your institution must be included on the BIO Member Directory and/or have participated in one of the following Biominas’ initiatives: Biominas Hub, BioStartup Lab (or any corporate accelerator program powered by Biominas), GroWbio or Habitat.


Registration – Special Discounts

Academic/Government/Non-profit registration

If your institution is categorized in this group, contact us at and ask for your discount code. Please be advised that you may be asked to provide more information about your institution and that you must register using your institutional information (including your institutional e-mail address).

All academic/government/non-profit registrations will be analyzed case-by-case.

Given that this category already has special pricing, it is not cumulative with any other discount.

Startup registration

We consider as “startup” an innovative organization created in the last two years to search for a repeatable and scalable business model with high potential to grow. If your organization fits this criteria, contact us at and ask for your discount code. Please be advised that you may be asked to provide more information about your startup and that you must register using your startup information (if possible, including your startup e-mail address).

All startup registrations will be analyzed case-by-case.

Given that this category already has special pricing, it is not cumulative with any other discount.


Non-refund and Cancellation Policy

BIO Latin America Conference has a non-refunding policy for canceled registrations and for no-shows. The registration can be transferred to another person from your company that intends to attend the BIO Latin America 2021. Cancelation requests made up to 30 days prior the Conference date will receive a 30% credit to apply to next year’s conference or to other events that Biominas may host. After that period, NO credits will be issued.


Media Registration

Complimentary registration is available to applicants with valid press credentials and media is invited to attend all activities. Please contact us at and ask for your media registration code.

The producers will review submissions in the order they are received and send notification within 48 hours. Instructions for receiving a complimentary media badge will be sent to all approved media.

Media Registration Categories

Affiliated/Credentialed Media (Broadcast, Online, Newspapers, Magazines, Newsletters, etc.)

Please be advised that you may be asked to provide valid press credentials which include:

      • A by-lined article published by your employing news agency within the past six months;
      • A copy of publication masthead listing your primary position as an editor or reporter;
      • Official photo identification issued by your employing news agency or government.

Freelance Journalists

Freelance writers may apply for complimentary media registration and must present the following:

      • A signed letter on company letterhead from your assignment editor confirming your assignment to cover the event
      • A by-lined story appearing in a verifiable print or electronic publication dated within the last six months


Bloggers will be considered for media registration on a case-by-case basis and must provide three of their most recent blog posts on a biotechnology related subject for consideration.

Important Information: Marketing executives, sales representatives, public relations executives, analysts, consultants, authors, and researchers may not register as media.


Liability and Insurance

The Organizers will not be liable for personal accident and/or loss or damage to the property of participants during the Conference. Participants should make their own arrangements with respect to personal insurance.


Official language

Please be aware that the official language of the Conference is English and that we will have simultaneous translations for Portuguese (back and forth) at the auditorium.


Photo and Video Disclaimer

BIO Latin America Conference reserves the right to use any photograph/video taken during the event, at the Grand Hyatt São Paulo, to be held on September 1st and 2nd, 2020, without the expressed written permission of those included within the photograph/video. BIO Latin America Conference may use the photograph/video in publications or other media material produced, used or contracted by BIO Latin America Conference including but not limited to: brochures, invitations, books, newspapers, magazines, websites, etc. The images may also be used for future promotion of the event.

A person attending BIO Latin America Conference who does not wish to have their image recorded for distribution must make their wishes known to the Organizers, in writing (through the email

Also, any person participating in the BIO Latin America Conference waives the right to inspect or approve the photograph(s)/video(s) or finished version(s) incorporating the photograph(s)/video(s), including written copy that may be created and appear in connection therewith. Therefore, you agree that BIO Latin America Conference owns the copyright in these photographs/videos and you waive any claims based on usage of the photographs/videos or the works derived therefrom.


Privacy Policy

The Organizers respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it through the Privacy Policy (available here).

The Privacy Policy governs your access to and use of, including any content, functionality and services offered on or through (the “Website”), whether as a guest or a registered user.

When accessing the Website and/or registering for the BIO Latin America Conference, the Organizers will learn certain information about you, both automatically and through voluntary actions you may take during your visit and registration process. This policy applies to information we collect on the Website and through email, text, or other electronic messages between you and the Website.

Please read the Privacy Policy (available here) carefully before you start using the Website and before registering for the Conference. By using the Website, by registering for the Conference or by clicking to agree to it when this option is made available to you, you accept and agree to be bound and abide by the Privacy Policy. If you do not want to agree to the Privacy Policy, you must not access or use the Website, and not register for the Conference.
